Helping adults and teens grow and flourish with online psychotherapy.

I am an empathic therapist empowering adolescents and adults to feel happier, more confident with themselves and others, and recover from anxiety, depression, eating issues, or relationship problems and relational trauma.

ABOUT SUSAN

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years experience. I am also a seasoned human who, maybe like you, has experienced the highs and lows that come with life— the joys, triumphs, and the challenges and traumas too.

I understand the experience of overcoming hardships and have made it my life’s passion to try and help others do the same by showing up authentically, and offering a genuine connection built on empathy and understanding.  Drawing upon my extensive clinical training and years of experience, I serve as a guide on your path toward healing, recovery, and personal growth.

I provide individual psychotherapy services to adults and teens.  I specialize in working with those struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, emotional abuse, and eating disorders.  I also see individuals who need help managing various stressors and life transitions as well as grief and identity issues.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and have been in private practice since 2006. I earned my Master’s (M.S.) and Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in Clinical Psychology from Washington State University, and completed a predoctoral clinical internship at the University of Chicago Medical Center. I later completed postdoctoral fellowships at Northside Hospital in Atlanta and the Atlanta VA Medical Center. I obtained my undergraduate degree (B.A.) from Vassar College with honors in psychology.

My Approach & Policies

Drawing from both cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy, I tailor my approach to your needs.

The problems that have us seek therapy are often ones connected to upsetting or even traumatic experiences.  These experiences cause us to see ourselves, others, or the world negatively.  If this rings true for you, please know these events don't have to define your future. The purpose of therapy is to help you change, recover and grow, empowering you to move beyond the constraints of past hardships.

Maybe your past has led you to be self-critical, perfectionistic, or have low self-esteem.  You may be filled with self-doubt and feel awful about yourself and your relationships.  Together, we can work toward improving how you feel by changing your thought patterns, relational patterns, and emotional well-being.

I use various therapy approaches in a creative way that is intended to be uniquely helpful to you and your specific circumstances.  Should you choose me as your therapist, there are different ways we might work together.  In the safety of a therapy relationship, we can address what hurts so you feel less burdened. Together, we can transform how you relate to yourself and others.  We can empower you to make the changes in yourself and your life that you may not have even considered or thought possible.

You may not realize it, but you come to therapy with strengths and positive qualities that have helped you get through life’s challenges so far.  By helping you recognize those strengths in the context of therapy, you can gain the ability to use them in your general life. With compassion and empathy as our compass let’s embark together on the journey towards self-discovery and healing.  Whether you are facing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, emotional trauma or an eating disorder, know that you don’t have to navigate these struggles alone.
